Faridabad water supply to remain shut for 36 hours starting today

Residents across parts of Faridabad are set to face a 36-hour water supply disruption starting April 23, as the Faridabad Metropolitan Development Authority (FMDA) undertakes critical pipeline connection work along the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway corridor.

According to an official public notice issued by the FMDA, the shutdown of Ranney Well Water Supply Line No. 1 will begin at 9 am on April 23 and continue till 9 pm on April 25, affecting water supply in multiple sectors and residential colonies. The temporary halt has been necessitated to facilitate the laying and connection of a 600mm diameter DI pipeline near the road dividing Sectors 64 and 65, close to the Mumbai Expressway.

FMDA officials said the agency executing the project had sought a 36-hour shutdown to safely integrate the new pipeline with the existing water supply network. The move is part of ongoing infrastructure augmentation works aimed at strengthening the city’s water distribution system. Areas likely to be affected include Sectors 22, 23, 25, 55 and 58, along with colonies such as Gounchi, Shaheed Park, JCB Chowk, Panchayat Bhawan, Jain Colony, Bhim Bagh, Subhash Colony, Unchagaon, Milk Plant area and Prem Nagar.

Confirming the development, FMDA Joint Engineer (Water Supply) Parveen Singh said the shutdown is temporary and normal water supply would be restored immediately after the completion of the connection work.

The administration has urged residents in the affected areas to store adequate water in advance to avoid inconvenience during the disruption period. The authorities also appealed for public cooperation to ensure timely completion of the project.
