Faridkot advocate moves court over wrongful parking, police inaction

A local advocate has moved the court of the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Faridkot, against senior police and traffic officials, alleging criminal inaction over a wrongful parking complaint backed by CCTV footage — with the matter now stretching into its third month without any action against the offender.
Mangat Arora, a practising advocate residing near Baba Farid, Faridkot, has filed an application under Section 175(3) of the BNSS before CJM Faridkot, arraying the SSP Faridkot, DSP Sub-division, SHO City, City Traffic Incharge Swaran Singh, and District Traffic Incharge Wakil Singh as respondents, besides the unidentified owner/driver of the offending vehicle.
According to the complaint, on April 6, a Bolero was parked directly in front of his house gate, blocking both the road and the entry to his residence.
The complainant stated he immediately contacted the city and district traffic incharges on their mobile phones and shared photographs of the wrongly parked vehicle, but no action was taken against the offender.
On April 7, Arora emailed the SSP Faridkot with detailed particulars and photographs of the incident, again receiving no response. He stated the entire parking period was recorded on CCTV and the footage has been preserved as evidence.
Arora filed the application before CJM Shampy Chaudhary on April 15. The court registered the matter and called a status report from PS City Faridkot, fixing April 30 for the purpose.
In the latest hearing on Saturday, Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Daljit Kaur issued notice to the Traffic Incharge, City Faridkot, directing the official to ensure the presence of offending vehicle owner before the court on August 26.
The complainant has contended that due to the persistent inaction of police and traffic officials, the traffic system in the city is deteriorating, and the concerned officials are guilty of dereliction of duty.
