FIR against portal for fake news on sale of curfew passes

Palampur, March 29

Palampur SDM Dharmesh Ramotra has lodged an FIR against a news web portal for running a fake news pertaining to sale of curfew passes for money.

As soon as the web portal displayed the news, the SDM personally investigated the matter and found no truth in it. He said whatever the new portal alleged was far from truth and not based on facts.

The SDM told mediapersons that no person, who had been named in the news, figure in the list of employees of his office or were on duty, he added.

He said that before running the news on the web portal his comments were not taken by the reporter, which is mandatory. Meanwhile, Kangra DC Rakesh Prajapati withdrew the powers of all SDMs to issue curfew passes. Now, all curfew passes would be issued by the DC’s office after proper verification. — OC
