Rauh de Chol by Chef Reetika Gill

Lohri is especially meaningful this year as we celebrate my brother and bhabhi’s first Lohri together. My brother (Anmol), the youngest in our family, has always brought warmth and affection into our lives. In the Gill household, ‘Rauh de Chol’ is a long-standing Lohri tradition. For as long as we remember, it has been prepared every year and shared with family and neighbours. The tradition began with Mataji (my grandmother), was carried forward by mummy, and continues with us today. The rice dish, especially prepared on Lohri, reflects our roots — simple traditions, shared with warmth and continuity.
