GNDU’s two-day workshop concludes

A workshop on ‘Mainstreaming Sustainability in Curricula of the Built Environment Courses’ was organised to commemorate the 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev and the golden jubilee centenary year of Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU).

The Centre for Science and Environment (CSE) – a New Delhi-based environment policy, advocacy and research organisation – held the two-day workshop.

Prof Sarabjot Singh Behl, Dean, Academic Affairs, GNDU, chaired the workshop. He expressed his pleasure on successful completion of the three-year MoU between the GNDU and the CSE. He highlighted that response to these workshops conducted by the CSE had been tremendous. He informed the participants of the workshop that sensitisation on sustainability aspects, as discussed in various training programmes of the CSE, had resulted in establishment of Centre for Sustainable Habitat under the RUSA grant.

While sharing a recap of the seven training programmes organised by the CSE, Ashwani Luthra, Professor, Guru Ramdas School of Planning, presented the snapshots of the events held on GNDU campus and NIMLI campus of CSE at Alwar. He said that the faculty and the students of Planning and Architecture Departments of the university had gained a lot from the trainings conducted on various aspects of sustainable development.

He expressed his gratitude to the efforts of Rajneesh Sareen, Programme Director, Sustainable Habitat and Built Environment, CSE, New Delhi, and his team for sharing the CSE research on the traditional and contemporary principles, techniques and technologies to attain different sustainable development goals as prescribed by the United Nations.
