The specter of industrial violence returned to Gurugram as local police revealed a chilling conspiracy to destabilise the Manesar Industrial Model Township (IMT). On April 13, 2026, the Gurugram Police Crime Branch arrested six key suspects accused of inciting riots, arson and a coordinated attack on security forces during a labour strike on April 9.

Investigations suggest the unrest was not a spontaneous outburst of worker frustration, but a calculated 'hijacking' by external elements. Authorities noted a terrifying parallel to the 2012 Maruti Suzuki violence, uncovering a plot involving petrol bombs and systematic destruction of corporate property.

Following the violence at three company branches in Sector 7, IMT Manesar, police intensified their crackdown. The arrested individuals have been identified as Akash from Rohtak, Harish Chand from Pauri Garhwal, Pintu Kumar Yadav from Madhubani, Raju Singh from Udham Singh Nagar, Shyambir from Badaun, and Ajit Singh from Jind.

Crucially, digital evidence has turned the tide of the investigation.

A police spokesperson confirmed that WhatsApp chats have revealed a massive conspiracy. There was a deliberate plan to use petrol bombs to set companies on fire and incite workers toward extreme violence.

The investigation further highlighted that most of the arrested suspects had no professional ties to any company in Gurugram, confirming they were non-workers acting as agitators.

Anatomy of the attack

On April 9, what began as a strike escalated into a war zone. Agitators allegedly provoked labourers to pelt stones with the intent to kill, targeting both company executives and on-duty police officers. Government vehicles were torched and private property was ransacked.

Police officials stated that these 'outsiders' acted as the primary strategists, fuelling the fire by coaching workers on how to confront law enforcement and sabotage industrial infrastructure.

Stern warning to workforce

In the wake of these arrests, the Gurugram Police has issued a direct appeal to the local labour community to remain vigilant against external manipulation.

Gurugram Police appeals to all workers: do not fall for the provocations of outsiders or non-workers. If any external element tries to spoil the atmosphere or incite you, report it to the police immediately.

As the investigation continues, authorities are working to identify further links in the conspiracy to ensure that the industrial peace of the region is not shattered by those seeking to replicate past tragedies for ulterior motives.
