8-year-old crushed to death by school van in Gurugram's Bhondsi
Class I student run over while returning from shop; FIR registered against driver
An eight-year-old boy was crushed to death by a school van in the Bhondsi area of Gurugram on Monday, police said.
The deceased has been identified as Shivansh Tripathi, a Class I student of a private school, who lived with his family in Shyam Kunj, Bhondsi.
According to a complaint filed by his father, Santosh Kumar Tripathi, a native of Medhi Sulempur in Uttar Pradesh’s Ambedkar Nagar district, Shivansh had gone to school in the morning and returned home in the afternoon. He later went to a nearby grocery store to buy chocolates.
“While returning home, the driver of a school van, driving recklessly on our street, reversed the vehicle and hit my son. He fell to the ground, and the driver ran the vehicle over him,” the father alleged in his complaint, adding that the child suffered severe head and body injuries and was bleeding from the ears and mouth.
The child was rushed to Medanta Hospital but was declared dead on arrival. Police said an FIR has been registered at Bhondsi police station against the van driver.
“The body has been handed over to the family after postmortem. The accused will be arrested soon,” said Bhondsi SHO Inspector Surender Kumar.
