​Gurugram police arrest 2 Himanshu Bhau gang sharpshooters after encounter

Gangsters open fire on police, held after brief encounter on the Delhi-Jaipur Highway

The Gurugram police have arrested two alleged sharpshooters linked to the Himanshu Bhau gang after a brief encounter on the Delhi-Jaipur Highway late on Friday night. Both were shot in the legs during the crossfire and were admitted to hospital.

According to the police, the Crime Branch team from Sector 40 received information that two gang members were roaming around the Manesar area on a Splendor bike without a number plate and were allegedly planning to commit a major crime.

Acting on the tip-off, the police set up barricades and began a search operation. The suspects were spotted near Saharwan village, where a chase ensued.

Upon seeing the police team, the accused opened fire on them. Three bullets struck the official police vehicle, though no personnel were injured.

During the encounter, both sides exchanged 10 to 15 rounds of fire. The two suspects were shot in the legs, following which they fell onto the road and were apprehended. They were later taken to a hospital for treatment.

According to the police, the accused were identified as Karan alias Ronnie and Pravesh, both residents of Kanjhawala village in Delhi. Police recovered a black Splendor motorcycle and a pistol from their possession.

“Both accused have 10 criminal cases registered against them, including murder, attempted to murder and robbery. They were also suspected to have been involved in a recent shooting in Mundka, Delhi,” said a senior police officer.

Further investigation is under way.
