Ludhiana, February 7

The award for land acquisition for international civil terminal at Halwara Airport was announced by the Greater Ludhiana Area Development Authority (GLADA) here today. The GLADA Additional Chief Administrator-cum-Land Acquisition Collector, Bhupinder Singh, said the award was pronounced in his office in the presence of land owners/affected persons.

It was proposed to acquire 161.2703 acres of land at Aitiana village for the construction of International Civil Terminal at Halwara Airport. “Announcement of award has been done as the rates for land acquisition have been approved by the Punjab government. These awards have also been uploaded on the official website of GLADA,” he added.

The GLADA ACA further said the land owners, who were absent at the time of announcement of awards, were being intimated through notices under section 37(2) of Land Acquisition Act-2013, so that they could get their compensation within 15 days of the announcement of awards. Such persons would have to submit their ID proof, documents regarding land ownership, PAN card for getting compensation. He said the failure to do so would mean that the compensation amount would have to be deposited in the reference court.

The announcement of award for payment of compensation to land owners and other affected persons was practically the last step towards acquisition of land after the Department of Housing and Urban Development, Punjab, issued a notification under Sections 19 and 21 (1) of the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013, for acquisition of 161.27 acres at Aitiana village in Raikot tehsil of Ludhiana district.

“Other statutory requirements for land acquisition like notification under Section 11, holding a social impact survey and compilation of Rehabilitation and Resettlement (R&R) Scheme as per Sections 16, 17 and 18 of the Act have already been fulfilled,” said GLADA officials.

It was learnt that the market rate of the land to be acquired for the purpose has been determined at around Rs 9.75 lakh per acre and the owners would be entitled to 100 per cent solatium on the price of land. The total award for 161.27 acre land, including cost of land, solatium, compensation of structures/tubewells etc, fruit bearing and trees and the relief and rehabilitation has been fixed at nearly Rs 39.40 crore.
