13 vehicles with illegal mining material seized in Yamunanagar dist

The Haryana State Enforcement Bureau has impounded 13 vehicles from different areas of Yamunanagar district in the past one week, allegedly for transporting illegal mining minerals, bajri, sand and boulders without e-transit passes. A fine of Rs 51.14 lakh has been imposed on the owners of these vehicles.

Shyam Sunder Sharma, SHO of police station of Haryana State Enforcement Bureau, Yamunanagar, said that a team of the Enforcement Bureau intercepted two tippers on the Chhachhrauli-Pratap Nagar road last night and fined their owners Rs 8.52 lakh. He added that both had been impounded and parked in the vehicle yard situated at Kharwan village. He further said that these were caught from Kail bypass on January 31.

Sharma said that a tractor-trailer and an earth moving machine was impounded from Pratap Nagar area on January 30 and a fine of Rs 6.42 lakh was imposed on their owners. He added that seven vehicles were intercepted and impounded from Radaur area on January 29 and a fine of Rs 27.68 lakh was imposed on the owners of those seven vehicles.

“All 13 vehicles caught from different areas of the district have been impounded. A fine of Rs 51.14 lakh was also imposed on the owners of these 13 vehicles,” said Sharma, SHO of police station of Haryana State Enforcement Bureau, Yamunanagar.

As per available information, these vehicles were seized under sub-rule no. 102 and 104 of State Mining Rules 2012, read with Section 21 (4) of the MMDR Act 1957 and NGT, New Delhi orders passed on April 23, 2019, and February 19, 2020.

Meanwhile, the Mines and Geology Department has recovered the fine, royalty and the price of minerals loaded in the said vehicles and also recovered environmental compensation from the owners of the seized vehicles as per the NGT orders. If the owner of a seized vehicle fails to pay the fine, then an FIR will be lodged against him.
