CHANDIGARH: Families belonging to the economically weaker sections, Scheduled Castes and those living in dhanis in the state will get the Manohar Jyoti Solar Home System.

Chandigarh, September 13

Families belonging to the economically weaker sections, Scheduled Castes and those living in dhanis in the state will get the Manohar Jyoti Solar Home System.

Under the programme launched by the state government, such families are being provided 12.8-volt power to run a ceiling fan, three lights and mobile charging facility.

Apart from this, 80-Ah lithium battery and solar panel of 150 Watt will also be provided to the families.

An official spokesman said under the new system, over 16,700 families would be benefited in the current financial year at a cost of Rs 37.5 crore. He said a common man could also get solar equipment and for this, a subsidy of Rs 15,000 was being provided on solar equipment costing Rs 22,500.

He said under the scheme, initially, about 2,400 dhanis of four districts, namely Bhiwani, Hisar, Fatehabad and Sirsa, were being given priority. — TNS
