2 criminals carrying reward of Rs 1 lakh killed in encounter in Palwal
The CIA team of the Palwal police shot dead two criminals in an encounter that took place in the district on Sunday night. Both the accused, who hailed from Rewari district, carried a bounty of Rs 1 lakh each. Their bodies have been kept in the Civil Hospital for post-mortem examination.
A senior police official said that the encounter took place near Lalwa village on the Palwal-Nuh road around 11 pm, when the CIA team, led by Inspector Deepak Gulia, reached the spot on basis of inputs that the two criminals who were sharpshooters of a gang, had been present in the area. It is reported that when the team challenged the criminals, identified as Zorawar and Neeria (both aged between 27 and 30 years), to surrender before it, they opened fire on the police. The duo were killed in the shootout that continued for 15 to 20 minutes. Three policemen, including CIA incharge Deepak Gulia, survived the assault as the bullets hit their bullet-proof jackets during the encounter, it has been revealed. The criminals were working for gangster Neeraj Faridpuria of the Bambiha gang, it is claimed.
The police have launched a hunt to trace the accomplices of the criminals, who may have slipped from the spot during the encounter, said a police official. It is believed that the criminals may have come in the area to commit another crime, as they were involved in a case of assault on the Sarpanch of Joharkhera village a few months ago.
