Sonepat: Priya Chaudhary and Dev Saroha of Sonepat have cleared the Delhi Judicial Service Examination, the result for which was declared recently.

Sonepat: Priya Chaudhary and Dev Saroha of Sonepat have cleared the Delhi Judicial Service Examination, the result for which was declared recently. Priya, a resident of Jatheri village in the district and mother of two daughters, got 70th rank in the selection list of 123. She has done LLM from Kurukshetra University and is pursuing her PhD. Saroha, a resident of Rathdhana village in the district, got 79th rank. He had cleared the Uttar Pradesh Judicial Service Examination in October 2017 and is serving as judicial magistrate at Baghpat. Villagers present scooters to two toppers

Hisar: Residents of Niyana village have awarded scooters to two students of a government school for securing first position in the village in Class X and XII. Mandeep scored 88 per cent in Class X and Laxmi Devi 87.4 per cent in the Class XII exams conducted by the Board of School Education Haryana. Bahadurgarh academy swimmers win c'ship

Jhajjar: Swimmers of Champions Aquetic Academy, Bahadurgarh, won seven gold medals in different categories during the inter-state swimming championship held in Palwal recently. Varsity to impart skill training to students

Mahendragarh: The Central University of Haryana (CUH) will impart skill training to its students by involving industry experts. Students spread awareness on hygienic practices

Ambala: Over 9,000 students of government schools on Friday motivated people to adopt hygienic practices under the ‘Dastak’ programme. Student from Classes VI to XII participated in the event and went door to door in the city to spread awareness on hygienic practices. “Carrying placards, banners and charts, they made people aware of the hazards of water stagnation. They also checked air coolers, water pots, tyres and other containers and motivated people to keep them empty,” said Sudhir Kalra, block education officer, Ambala City. Nitish Sharma

Film on Buddhist heritage screened

Yamunanagar: A documentary film ‘Kuru’ produced and directed by Dr Satyadeep Neil Gauri, an Australian dentist, was screened at DAV College for Girls on Sunday in presence of Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar. The director said the film, which is based on the Buddhist heritage of Haryana, was shot exclusively with drones. Ten ancient Buddhist monuments in Yamunanagar, Hisar, Karnal, Kurukshetra and New Delhi have been covered in the film. Sidhartha Gauri, founder of the Buddhist Forum, wrote the screenplay. Y’nagar town to have Birbal memorial

Yamunanagar: Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Sunday said the state government would construct a memorial of Birbal, an adviser in the court of Mughal emperor Akbar, in Buria town, which has a fort of Birbal. At a programme held by the Yodha Smarak Samiti, a social organisation, to honour RSS pracharak Indresh Kumar at DAV College for Girls, Yamunanagar, the Chief Minister said the ancient glory of Topra Kalan village of Yamunanagar district would also be restored. “Ashoka had installed a pillar in Topra Kalan village, but in 14th century, Feroz Shah Tughlaq took the pillar to Delhi. Now, an Ashoka Chakra has been built in the village as part of revival of the old Buddhist heritage. We have written to Centre for help in the restoration of the old glory of Topra Kalan village. The state government will also extend help for the development of the village for tourism purposes,” said Khattar. Shiv Kumar Sharma
