2 Junior Engineers of Panipat civic body suspended for negligence in duty

Following the directions of the Director-General (DG), Urban Local Bodies (ULB), the Additional Commissioner has suspended two Junior Engineers and served a show-cause notice to the Chief Engineer and Executive Engineer (XEN) concerned for negligence in duty.

As per sources, the officials reportedly didn’t take proper interest in mapping the complaints raised by the people on the ‘Mhari Sadak’ portal.

Vivek Chaudhary, Additional Commissioner, MC, sought a reply from the engineering wing officials upto March 19 and gave them three days’ time to upload their performance on the portal. Further action will be initiated against the officials after getting their replies. As per the available information, the Directorate, ULB, had launched the ‘Mhari Sadak’ portal for the citizens to upload their complaints. To maintain the records of the road, the MC officials have been directed time to time for mapping of the complaints raised by the people from various wards.

As per the sources, the Director-General, ULB, recently reviewed the performance of the districts regarding mapping on the portal on February 9, and found the Panipat’s performance was very poor. The DG again reviewed the performances of the districts on March 16, but didn’t find any development in their performance after which the directorate expressed displeasure over it.

MC Commissioner Dr Pankaj Yadav had also directed the officials to complete the mapping of complaints timely and upload the details on the portal. Even the Commissioner warned the officials earlier for their poor performance in mapping of the complaints of the people on the portal.

Following which, Panipat MC Commissioner was told to initiate action against the officials concerned for their negligence in duty. Following the directions, MC Additional Commissioner Vivek Chaudhary suspended two Junior Engineers — Shivraj and Rajkumar — for negligence in duties with immediate effect.

“The headquarters will be the MC office during the suspension of both officials and they will not allowed to leave the office without permission of the Additional Commissioner,” the letter reads.

Confirming the suspension of the two Junior Engineers, Chaudhary said both had been suspended for negligence in duty. Show-cause notices have also been served on the MC Chief Engineer and the XEN concerned, too, for poor performance of the Mhari Sadak portal, the Additional Commissioner added.

The officials have also been directed to reply over their performance up to March 19 and upload their performance on the portal within three days, Chaudhary said.
