Twenty persons were injured when a tourist bus overturned near Shahpur village on the Bilaspur-Jagadhri road in Yamunanagar district on Sunday morning in a bid to avoid collision with a car coming from opposite side.
The bus was on its way from Kalka in Panchkula district to Haridwar in Uttar Pradesh.
According to the conductor of the bus, Gaurav, the pilgrims were going to Haridwar to take a holy dip in the Ganga river.
“The bus overturned around 7.30 am when the bus driver tried to avoid collision with a car coming from Jagadhri side. The bus was carrying 50 passengers,” said the conductor.
Twenty injured persons were rushed to the Community Health Centre (CHC), Bilaspur, where they were given primary treatment.
"On the request of the injured passengers, we have referred them to the Civil Hospital, Panchkula," said Dr Shama Parveen, Senior Medical Officer of CHC, Bilaspur.
Some of the injured have been identified as Anima (40), Kamlesh (45), Tarsem, Meena (60), Sudha (50), Vinod (70), Indu (45), Sunita (55), Harsh (65), Jaggi (45), Bela (70) and Ashu (55), all residents of Kalka.
