In a major step towards providing safe and legal overseas employment, 210 more youths have been selected for jobs in Dubai through the Haryana Kaushal Rozgar Nigam (HKRN). These youths will travel abroad through proper legal channels.
Union Minister for Power, Housing and Urban Affairs Manohar Lal Khattar distributed the offer letters to them and urged them to focus on skill development along with education and learn foreign languages to enhance their employment prospects.
Chairing a state-level ‘Panchjanya 2026’ programme organised by the State Foreign Cooperation Department and HKRN at Kalpana Chawla Government Medical College’s auditorium, Khattar described the initiative as a unique effort of the state government, enabling youths to get jobs abroad without any expense, free from middlemen, and away from illegal routes like the ‘donkey’ route.
He said Haryana had emerged as a leading state in providing such safe and transparent employment opportunities. He said the idea of establishing the Foreign Cooperation Department had emerged in 2018 after discussion with the then Union External Minister, Sushma Swaraj.
Calling youth a nation's asset, he said while the youth population was declining in several countries, it was increasing in India. He said in the first phase, 225 youths were selected for Israel, of which 180 had already gone, and a further demand for 10,000 workers had been received. In the second phase, 210 youths had been selected.
Earlier, Sports Minister Gaurav Gautam highlighted jobs on merit in Haryana. “Our government has abolished ‘parchi and kharchi’ in jobs,” he said.
Commissioner and Secretary, Foreign Cooperation Department, Avneet P Kumar, said the government was supporting the youth at every stage, from training to selection. She said coaching in foreign languages would be started soon under a proposed Foreign Language Policy, with centres to be set up across the state, including one in Karnal.
Meanwhile, youths who got the job letters expressed happiness. One of the candidates, Mandeep, said, “Youths have been chosen for different jobs based on their skill levels and pay scales. They have been selected for various roles, including bike riding, road store-keeping, and security guard duties."
