3 held after attempting to hijack police vehicle
Three members of a robbers’ gang were arrested on Monday night after they attempted to stop a police vehicle at gunpoint on the Kundli-Manesar-Palwal (KMP) Expressway. The police seized a country-made pistol with a cartridge, an iron rod and a stick from their possession. An FIR was registered at the Sadar Tauru police station.
The arrested suspects were identified as Shahid alias Pola, Imran and Aamir, all residents of Dhulawat village in Nuh district. All three have a criminal background and are members of a robber’s gang. Shahid alias Pola alone has about 10 cases against him, including charges of attempted murder, robbery, theft and obstruction of government work. Aamir and Imran each have one case of theft and possession of illegal weapons.
CIA Tauru in-charge Mahender Singh said a police team was patrolling the KMP Expressway late on Monday evening. As the team neared Dhulawat toll plaza, three youths stepped in front of the vehicle. “The accused stopped the police vehicle using weapons. One of them pointed a weapon at the driver’s neck and demanded money. When the driver switched on the lights, the suspects attempted to flee, but we managed to apprehend them,” said Singh, adding the accused are currently being interrogated.
