Panipat, July 7
The CIA-2 unit of the district police have nabbed three men allegedly for demanding Rs 20 lakh extortion money in the name of gangster Kala Jatheri and Lawrence Bishnoi from a factory owner in the city.
The accused have been identified as Ravinder alias Billu of Madlauda; Vikram of Sodhapur and Tushar of Jagdish Nagar on Kutani road. CIA-2 in-charge Inspector Virender said Ravinder and Vikram had conspired to become rich by adopting shortcuts.
Both accused went to Nepal and purchased a mobile phone and sim card from there and made a call to a factory owner Sandeep Goyal twice and demanded Rs 20 lakh extortion money from him in the name of Lawrence Bishnoi and Kala Jatheri gang on June 26. They also threatened to kill him. They came back to Panipat on June 29 and purchased a mobile sim card for Rs 700 from Tushar. Accused Vikram again threatened the factory owner on June 29 on the mobile number he purchased from Tushar.
Following the complaint, the Model Town police registered a case under Section 387 of the IPC. SP Shashank Kumar Sawan handed over the matter to CIA-2 unit of the district police.
The CIA-2 nabbed Ravinder and Vikram from near the vegetable mandi and Tushar from Sanjay Chowk. Inspector Virender said all three accused had been produced in the court. The court has sent Vikram and Tushar to judicial custody while the court has sent Ravinder on 8 days police remand.
