3 of family killed in road mishap in Palwal

Three members of a family, including a couple and their three-year-old daughter, were killed after a speeding pick-up jeep hit them near Banchari village in the district this morning. The police registered a case and launched a hunt to nab the driver of the vehicle.

Tragic deaths

• The jeep bearing a UP registration number suddenly rammed into the trio waiting for a passenger vehicle
• The couple is survived by a one-month-old son, who was left behind by them with his grandmother in the village.

Cops said the accident took place on the National Highway-19 at Banchari village in the district when the couple, identified as Jitender (34) and his wife Babli (27), along with their minor daughter Tanishka, were waiting for a passenger vehicle around 10 am to go to Hodal in connection with some work.

Vedpal, brother of Jitender, who was also present at the spot, told the police that the jeep, having a UP registration number, suddenly came crashing there, hitting his relatives and then rammed into the side railing. He said while he managed to escape, it hit the trio and his motorcycle parked there.

All victims succumbed to injuries on way to hospital. The driver of the jeep managed to flee from the place, leaving the vehicle behind. The couple is survived by a one-month-old son, who was left behind by them with his grandmother in the village.
