3 sentenced to life for 2020 Kalayat murder; 3 others acquitted
Court imposes Rs 1 lakh fine on each convict; investigation led by CIA-1 Kaithal
The court of Additional Sessions Judge Dr Amit Kumar Garg has sentenced three convicts—Praveen alias Binny of Veer-Bangra (currently on Ramgarh Road, Kalayat), Shubham of Chandana, and Kamal of Lamba Kheri—to life imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 1 lakh each in connection with a murder case.
Giving details of the case, DSP Bir Bhan said that on the evening of July 20, 2020, Rajbir alias Bittu Rana, a resident of Kalayat, was returning home from his fields on a motorcycle when the convict chased him and shot him dead.
Following the incident, a case was registered at Kalayat police station on the complaint of the victim’s brother, Navneet.
The investigation was carried out by CIA-1 Kaithal, which later arrested all the persons involved in this case and submitted a detailed chargesheet in court.
The case was prosecuted by Public Prosecutor Mukesh Kumar, who presented the evidence and arguments with diligence and clarity.
Based on the testimonies and material evidence, the court convicted three of the accused and sentenced them to life imprisonment, while three others—Sunil, Hansraj, and Raju—were acquitted due to lack of sufficient evidence, the DSP added.
