Gurugram, October 26

Thirty-one persons were duped of Rs 2.4 lakh through a fake website of Iffco Tokio general insurance in the name of new policies and renewal of old ones.

An FIR has been registered at the cybercrime police station after a complaint by insurance company official Arun Pandey.

According to the complaint, some unidentified persons impersonating as representatives of the firm had been misguiding people to take fictitious insurance policies and misappropriating the premium received by diverting the deposits into bank accounts not belonging to the company.

The imposters had used fake email id, forged letterhead and logo of the company to project authenticity. After receiving the money, they stopped responding to the calls of customers.

Police spokesman Subhas Bokan said the investigation was on and the accused would be arrested soon. — OC
