334 cases of cheating detected in Haryana board exams

The Board of School Education Haryana (BSEH), Bhiwani, has registered 334 cases of cheating in the exams being held for Classes 10 and 12 and diploma in elementary education (D.El.Ed) in the state.

The board also relieved 64 staff members employed on examination duty following charges of dereliction of duty.

The maximum number of unfair means cases in a single day was recorded on February 25, when 17 cases of cheating were detected during the Class 12 English exam and D.El.Ed second-year re-appear exam. Two supervisors were relieved of their duties.

The number of such cases seems to have been on the decline, as 813 cases were detected in the board exams last year. In 2024, 1,155 cheating cases were detected while 2,511 cases were recorded in 2023. The final data of the ongoing exam is yet to be compiled.

Meanwhile, the board has started the marking process of answer sheets to ensure timely declaration of results. The BSEH Chairman, Dr Pawan Kumar Sharma, informed that the secrecy codes were being assigned to answer sheets, and duties for evaluation had already been allotted. The marking of answer sheets will begin from April 2.

The board will first declare Class 12 results, followed by Class 10. The results are expected to be announced in the second week of May. The board has set up 52 centres for Class 12, 75 for Class 10, and four for D.El.Ed for evaluation.
