Yamunanagar: 5 doctors booked in negligence case
Surgical sponge allegedly left inside abdomen during delivery
Two doctors of a private hospital at Jagadhri allegedly left a surgical sponge inside a woman’s abdomen during a caesarean delivery. A case has been registered against five doctors in this regard.
Two radiologists and a surgeon of a private hospital of Yamunanagar reportedly tried to help the doctors of the Jagadhri hospital to make the evidence disappear.
The complainant, Mehar Khatoon of Bibipur village of the district, told the police that she was admitted to the hospital on March 12, 2025, for delivery, and two doctors performed a caesarean delivery on March 13. She alleged that they left a surgical sponge inside her abdomen.
After being discharged from the hospital, she continued to suffer from severe abdominal pain. She got ultrasound done from two places to know the cause of the pain, but the doctors at the ultrasound centres allegedly hid the real cause to help the Jagadhri doctors.
She claimed that a surgeon of Yamunanagar also tried to help the doctors.
“Later, I was admitted to a private hospital in Panchkula, where further examination confirmed the presence of a surgical sponge inside my abdomen,” she told the police.
A surgery was performed in the Panchkula hospital to remove the sponge.
The doctors who have been named in the FIR have denied the allegations to the media.
