Kurukshetra/Karnal, May 30
The special task force (STF) has arrested five persons and seized 8.5 kg opium from them in separate cases.
In the first case, the accused — Mohammad Irshad and Mohammad Ashfaq of Jharkhand — were arrested with 5 kg opium by the Ambala STF team. They were sent to 10-day police remand on Sunday.
A case was registered under Section 18 of the NDPS Act at Shahabad police station.
In the second case, the STF of the Haryana Police arrested three persons and seized 3.5 kg of opium from them near Cheeka in Kaithal district.
The accused were identified as Ajay Ram of Jharkhand, and Harbans Singh and Ramjeet Singh of Punjab. The police also recovered a car. A case was registered against the trio under various Sections of the NDPS Act. — TNS
