7 vehicles involved in illegal mining seized in Yamunanagar; Rs 23.45L fine imposed

The teams of the district administration have seized seven vehicles in connection with illegal transportation of mined minerals. The teams also imposed a fine of Rs 23.45 lakh on these. Besides, the teams also registered two FIRs on the charges of illegal mining in two villages of the district.

Jagadhri SDM Vishwanath said that on the orders of Deputy Commissioner Preeti, a continuous intensive checking drive was being conducted in the district to combat illegal mining and transportation of mined minerals.

“The district administration is fully vigilant in preventing illegal mining and is keeping a close watch on these sites,” said the SDM. He said that in addition to the Mines and Geology Department, officials from other departments associated with the district task force were also conducting strict field monitoring with assistance of the police.

“From March 17 to March 20, teams from the mining, police and RTA Departments seized seven vehicles and imposed fines totalling Rs 23.45 lakh on vehicles involved in illegal mining, including royalties, mineral prices, fines and environmental compensation,” said the SDM.

He said that two FIRs had also been registered for illegal mining at Pobari and Taharpur villages of the district. He added that continuous round-the-clock checking was being conducted at all checkpoints in the district.

Assistant Mining Engineer Rajesh Kumar said that the department's entire focus was on field inspections. He added that the Police Department had been continuously cooperating in the field. “As per the instructions of the Superintendent of Police Kamaldeep Goyal, the SHOs concerned are quickly reaching the spot and taking action,” said Kumar.
