9 ambulances added to ‘108’ service fleet

Karnal: The state government has added nine fully furnished ambulances to the ‘108’ emergency service. The new ambulances will replace the ones that are no longer ‘fit’ to ply. The ‘108’ service receives 90 to 100 calls daily, of which 80 per cent are related to delivery cases, while the rest are accident cases. The ambulances are used for the VVIP and VIP duties as well. Gopal Sharma, in-charge of the ‘108’ ambulance service, said new ambulances would be plied after completing a few formalities. TNS

Youth shot dead, friend injured 

Rohtak: A youth was shot dead by motorcycle-borne assailants here on Monday. His friend was also shot at, but he escaped. The deceased has been identified as Sumit. His friend Vijay is admitted to the PGIMS here. The police said a case had been registered. Preliminary investigation indicated that an old enmity was behind the firing incident. TNS

Principal Secy gets additional charge
