Former Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda has demanded the immediate dismissal of an AAP minister who allegedly tried to hold the BBMB chairman hostage. Calling the incident “reprehensible, illegal, unconstitutional and unacceptable,” Hooda urged the Central Government to take serious note of the situation.

He demanded the deployment of Central security forces at the Bhakra Dam and the removal of the Punjab Police from the site. “We are part of a federal structure, and Bhakra and Nangal Dams are projects of the Central Government,” Hooda said at a press conference at his residence. “The technical committee deployed there decides the distribution of water to the states. No one can have dictatorship in this, and Haryana is not demanding water of anyone else's share, but its share,” he said.

Hooda linked the incident to the upcoming elections in Punjab, accusing the AAP of politicising water distribution. “From 1966 till today, there has never been any dispute over this water distribution. Why are such situations being created today? Because elections are coming in Punjab, and the political ground of the AAP has slipped. That is why AAP is doing mere politics on water,” he said.

He also noted that the high court has issued clear instructions to the Punjab Government not to interfere in the water allocation process. “In such a situation, the Punjab Government is also disobeying the orders of the court,” he said.
