Haryana Director-General of Police Ajay Singhal stated that integrating the helpline facility with the ‘Abhedya’ app is a strong example of “proactive and responsive policing.” He emphasised that the objective is not only to act after a crime has occurred, but also to prevent crimes in advance through technology and ensure that citizens feel safe at every level. The DGP further informed that through this helpline, citizens can instantly report suspicious calls, digital harassment, or any form of cyber threat, upon which prompt and effective action is ensured by the police. This not only helps in curbing criminal activities but also strengthens public trust and the sense of security among citizens.

The app identifies unknown international numbers, virtual numbers, and unsaved suspicious contacts. It blocks suspicious calls and removes content such as chats, voice notes, videos, and images before they reach the user. It is effective at preventing issues such as threatening calls, extortion, stalking, and cyber fraud at the user level, he said.
