After the Radaur Assembly constituency, opposition against BJP candidates has started within the party in Yamunanagar and Sadhaura constituencies. Senior party leader Data Ram has left the party after being denied the BJP ticket for Sadhaura.

Devender Chawla, a member of the state executive of the BJP, has also left the party, disappointing with the recent ticket distribution for Yamunanagar. Earlier, after being denied a party ticket from the Radaur Assembly constituency, former Minister Karan Dev Kamboj had resigned from the post of the BJP OBC Morcha president on Friday. The increasing opposition in the party has left leaders concerned.

Data Ram said he worked day and night to strengthen the BJP in Sadhaura and other parts of the state, but the BJP ignored his hard work, denying him a party ticket.

“I have resigned from all posts, including the primary membership of the BJP, as the party is no longer one that follows the principles of Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay and Atal Bihari Vajpayee,” he added. He said supporters had called a meeting in Bilaspur (Sadhaura Assembly constituency) on Monday to decide the next step.

As per information, Data Ram unsuccessfully contested Assembly elections in 2005 and 2009 on the BJP ticket from the Sadhaura Assembly constituency. “A group of BJP leaders and workers today held a meeting in Yamunanagar, feeling ignored by the party. This group had formed a 51-member committee a few days ago. The committee will decide by tomorrow what we should do next,” said Kamal Malik, a former Mandal Upadhyaksh of the BJP, Yamunanagar.
