Agency told to procure 10 more vehicles to lift garbage in Y'nagar, Jagadhri
The agency that is entrusted the work to lift garbage will now have to arrange 10 additional vehicles to lift door-to-door garbage from twin cities of Yamunanagar and Jagadhri.
Municipal Commissioner Ayush Sinha issued this instruction to the agency so that additional tippers could be replaced with the old vehicles to undertake door-to-door garbage collection work without any hindrance.
The agency has pressed 117 tippers into service in twin cities for the collection of garbage.
The authorities of Municipal Corporation, Yamunanagar-Jagadhri (MCYJ), imposed a fine of Rs 5,000 per day on the agency, if the garbage is not collected due to breakdown of tippers.
Now, Sinha has instructed the agency to increase the number of tippers to 127 from the existing 117 tippers.
“If a tipper breaks down, one of the additional tippers should be sent for door-to-door garbage collection so that residents of twin cities do not have to face any problem in disposal of garbage,” said Ayush Sinha.
Holding a meeting here recently, he instructed officials of the sanitation branch to improve the sanitation system of the twin cities.
In the meeting, several issues, including door-to-door garbage collection, garbage disposal, timely lifting of garbage, reduction of dumping points, road sweeping, catching stray cattle, cleaning of commercial areas at night, cleaning of all four dairy complexes and catching of monkeys, were discussed.
He sought a report about the cleanliness status of all wards from Chief Sanitary Inspectors and asked Sanitary Inspectors to improve sanitation conditions in their respective wards.
Besides, he also took information about dumping points of their wards from Sanitation Inspectors.
“I instructed all Sanitary Inspectors to reduce the garbage dumping points from twin cities. These should be replaced with pots of flowers. I also issued instructions to put banners on the site of eliminated dumping points stating that dumping of garbage is prohibited here,” said Ayush Sinha.
The Municipal Commissioner also instructed officers to get the cleanliness work done every day in the dairy complexes located at Kail, Darwa, Aurangabad and Raipur villages.
At the meeting, it was also decided to do door to door garbage collection in the evening and cleaning at night in commercial areas.
The Municipal Commissioner further said that several areas in twin cities, including Model Town, Radaur road, Meerabai Market, Railway Road, Bartan Bazar, Jhanda Chowk, school road and Civil Lines were commercial areas.
He said that now, garbage would be collected from those areas in the evening and cleaning work would be done here at night.
