The Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Department has taken the responsibility of taking punitive action against those burning stubble.
The Additional Chief Secretary, Agriculture, had directed Deputy Directors to lodge FIRs, issue challans and execute other enforcement measures to check stubble burning.
Sources said the directive was issued after the Haryana State Pollution Control Board washed its hands of citing shortage of staff, besides other reasons. — TNS
