Agri sciences academy celebrates National Science Day
60 students from Adarsh School, accompanied by 5 teachers, visit GSF Research Centre
The National Academy of Agricultural Sciences (NAAS), Regional Chapter, Karnal, celebrated National Science Day with school students at the GSF Research Centre, Karnal.
Sixty students from Adarsh School accompanied by their five teachers participated in the programme.
Dr Gurbachan Singh, former Chairman, ASRB, New Delhi, delivered the Science Day lecture on the topic Agriculture science and society. Dr Arjava Sharma and Dr B Prakash honoured fellows of the academy and also addressed the students covering agrobiodiversity and livestock improvement through embryo transplant technology.
Four students also made presentations covering the subjects of AI and machine learning and their importance for agriculture; climate change and agriculture; natural resources management and water conservation.
The participating students also displaced models for depicting science interventions. The convener of the Karnal Chapter of NAAS and chairman the GSF research centre presented certificates of participation to all tudents on behalf of NAAS, New Delhi.
The visiting students were also exposed to various research facilities and field experiments established at the GSF farm to double farmers income, multi-enterprise agriculture to make multiple use of resources, climate smart agriculture, crop residue management practices and agroforestry techniques.
