Preparations for the Assembly elections have begun by the Election Commission of India (ECI), as Bhiwani Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Election Officer Mahavir Kaushik said the revision of the photo voter lists in the district had begun on August 2 and would continue till August 16.
Addressing a press conference in Bhiwani today, the DC said the preliminary draft publication of the existing electoral rolls had been carried out on August 2. “Now, any voter can submit claims and objections related to his or her vote till August 16. Under the ongoing special campaign, all booth level officers (BLOs) will remain present at their respective booths on August 4, 10 and 11 from 9 am to 5 pm for the enrolment of new voters and to receive claims and objections from the people, if any. These claims must be settled by August 26. The final publication of voter lists will be done on August 27,” the DC said, adding that officials must ensure there were no errors in the photo voter list. As per the instructions of the ECI, citizens who have completed 18 years of age on July 1 can get themselves registered, he said.
Kaushik said the district administration would make all efforts to ensure an error-free voter list. He said a special campaign for the revision of the list had been launched.
