Ambala man held for sharing sensitive info with Pak-based handlers
The suspect, identified as Sunil Kumar, was allegedly honey-trapped and had been linked with the Pakistan-based module for nearly seven months
The CIA-2 unit of Ambala Police has arrested a man for allegedly passing on information of army units and airforce in Ambala Cantonment to Pakistan.
The suspect has been identified as Sunil Kumar, a resident of Sabga village of Saha area in Ambala. He was allegedly honey-trapped and was in link with the Pakistan-based module for nearly seven months.
As per information, he used to work as a supervisor for construction works for a private contractor in the military area in Ambala Cantonment.
Following inputs from the intelligence agencies, the suspect was nabbed on Friday night by the CIA-2 unit. After a preliminary investigation, he was arrested and produced before a court on Saturday, which sent him to a four-day police remand.
Confirming the arrest, Ambala Superintendent of Police Ajit Singh Shekhawat said, “A resident of Sabga village has been arrested for sharing information of the army units in Ambala Cantonment with some foreign-based individuals. He is on a four-day remand, and it has come to light that he was honey-trapped. He used to work as a supervisor for a private contractor in the military area.”
“He was in touch with the women through social media for nearly seven months. They frequently asked him for information, and he shared basic details such as the presence of the army unit, its personnel, and their movements,” he added.
