The general house meeting of the Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (HSGMC) will be held on February 10 to discuss the future of the executive body members who have not been attending the meetings.

Of 11 members in the executive body, four to five members, including the senior vice-president, have been opposing the committee president, and not attending the meetings.

As per information, HSGMC president Jagdish Singh Jhinda and the members supporting him want to remove the members who haven’t been attending the meetings. However, they need the support of two-third majority (33 members) in the 49-member committee.

HSGMC senior vice-president Gurmeet Singh said, “They want to remove us from the executive body because we have been opposing their wrong decisions. But without completing the quorum, no such action can be taken. The meetings are being held without completing the quorum and the decisions being taken in such meetings are illegal. We have already approached the Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Judicial Commission against the meeting held on January 7, in which the committee president claimed to have passed the budget without completing the quorum. The next date of hearing is February 13.”

“Though we requested the commission to give an early hearing and issue directions for the videography of the meeting, the requests were declined,” he added.

HSGMC member Didar Singh Nalvi said, “The judicial commission should ensure transparency in the functioning of the committee. We demand that videography of the general house meeting should be done, for which we have decided to approach the Punjab and Haryana High Court.”

Jhinda, meanwhile, said, “Some members haven’t been attending the meetings due to which the committee has been facing issues in ensuring smooth management. We received a representation from the Akal Panthak Morcha leaders that a general house meeting should be held to resolve the issue and take a decision regarding the members who remain absent from the meetings."
