Annual athletics meet concludes at NIT-Kurukshetra

The 53rd Annual Athletics Meet ‘CITIUS 2025–26’, organised at the National Institute of Technology, Kurukshetra, concluded on Sunday evening.

In the morning session, the final events included discus throw (girls), 5000m race (boys), long jump, 400m hurdles, javelin throw, 400m race, and the 4×100m relay race. The races in the under-14 category for both boys and girls attracted special attention, and the ground echoed with applause from the spectators.

The evening session events included the 4×100m relay race (boys). This was followed by the finals of the 100m race (girls and boys). The 4×100m inter-club/committee Relay (mixed), 4×100m inter-team relay (mixed), and 4×100m inter-departmental relay (staff/faculty category) showcased outstanding team spirit. The tug of war competitions (boys, girls, and captains/faculty category) further energised the atmosphere.

The closing ceremony was graced by Arjuna Awardee Ramesh Kumar as the chief guest and PC Tiwari as the guest of honour. The programme was also attended by Prof Arun Goyal, professor in-charge of physical education and sports.

In his address, Ramesh Kumar encouraged the athletes to uphold discipline, dedication, and continuous practice in their sporting journeys.

Thereafter, during the prize distribution ceremony, the winners were honoured with medals and mementoes. Further overall championship was secured by civil engineering department.

Prof in-charge public relations and professor mechanical engineering department Dr Gian Bhushan said ‘CITIUS 2025–26’ successfully conveyed a strong message of sportsmanship, unity, and self-confidence, making it a memorable event for all participants.
