Karnal: The annual function of OPS Vidya Mandir was organised on the school premises. Hindi film actress Padmini Kolhapure was the chief guest and Bharat Bhushan Kapoor, CMD, JBD Group, was the guest of honour.

Karnal: The annual function of OPS Vidya Mandir was organised on the school premises. Hindi film actress Padmini Kolhapure was the chief guest and Bharat Bhushan Kapoor, CMD, JBD Group, was the guest of honour. Kolhapure encouraged the students to set a goal and work with dedication to achieve the target. Avinash Bansal, Chairman, OPS School, welcomed the guests and motivated the students. Students showcased their talent in various cultural activities. Dr Jasjit Sood, Principal, presented the annual report. 

Arjuna Awardee opens championship

Hisar: Guru Jambheshwar University of Science and Technology, Hisar, is hosting the All-India Inter-University Wrestling Free Style and Greco-Roman (Men) Championship. Arjuna Awardee wrestler Geetika Jakhar was the chief guest at the inaugural function held in Ch. Ranbir Singh auditorium of the university. While addressing sportspersons, Geetika Jakhar said, “We should strive to achieve excellence in life.” She appealed to the students to maintain physical fitness. Prof Tankeshwar Kumar, Vice-Chancellor, congratulated the department of sports for organising the event. He said that every student should join at least one extra-curricular activity along with formal education. Dr SB Luthra, Director of Sports, informed that 1,500 players from around 140 universities are participating in the championship. The championship is being organised under the leadership of 45 technical experts and 250 team managers from across the country.

Two-day workshop begins

Hisar: A two-day workshop on “Standardisation and Calibration of Instruments” started at department of physics in collaboration with Haryana State Electronics Development Corporation (Hartron) at Guru Jambheshwar University of Science and Technology, Hisar. Prof Tankeshwar Kumar, Vice-Chancellor, was chief guest at the inaugural ceremony. DS Kajal, AGM, Hartron, briefed about the activities of Hartron in the state and outlined the framework of the workshop with the help of a presentation and a documentary.

101 DAV students get placement

Faridabad: As many as 101 students of DAV Centenary College, Faridabad, have got selected for employment in the placement drive here recently. The on-campus recruitment was held by Genpact, an MNC, in which a total of 267 graduate and post-graduate students took part, said Dr Satish Ahuja, Principal of the college. The drive was held with the support and direction of placement incharge Dr Suniti Ahuja and her team consisting of Urvashi Sapra, Anjali Manchada, Utma Pandey and Kavita.

DPS celebrates annual day

Kaithal: The fifth annual day of Delhi Public School, Kaithal, “DPS Gusto”, was celebrated on the school premises. The colourful ceremony was presided over by Satish Kumar Bansal, F.C.A, and attended by JP Dalal and all the members of the management. More than 2,500 people witnessed the gala event which thrilled the spectators with dance, music and dramatics. Children from pre-nursery to Class XII enthralled the crowd. Proficiency awards for the toppers of the academic session 2018-19 were given and school magazine “Nectar” was released during the function.

Certificates issued to students 

Yamunanagar: Seth Jai Parkash Polytechnic, Damla, issued appreciation certificates to the students who cast their vote in the Haryana Assembly elections 2019 at a function recently on the polytechnic campus. Principal Anil Kumar congratulated the students for casting their vote. He said, “The motive of giving appreciation certificates is to encourage them to cast their vote again and make them aware of the value of their vote in a democracy”.
