Assembly session postponed

CHANDIGARH: The monsoon session of the Haryana Assembly, which was scheduled to start from tomorrow, has been postponed by Speaker Kanwar Pal Gujjar in view of the death of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.



Chandigarh, August 16

The monsoon session of the Haryana Assembly, which was scheduled to start from tomorrow, has been postponed by Speaker Kanwar Pal Gujjar in view of the death of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

The Speaker had announced the postponement of the Assembly session before the formal announcement of Vajpayee’s death in view of his deteriorating health.

Gujjar confirmed this over the phone when The Tribune contacted him on Thursday evening.

The new dates of the session will be announced later.

According to Assembly sources, the monsoon session has to be called before September 13 as the budget session had concluded on March 15 and the gap between two sessions has to be less than six months. — TNS
