Bhiwani clinches top spots in handball events, Jhajjar dominates water sports

Karnal, August 3
The three-day state-level ‘Khel Mahakumbh’ — which saw players showcasing their skills in kayaking & canoeing, tennis, handball, fencing and cricket — concluded here today.

Bhiwani emerged as the champion in both men and women categories of handball. In men’s handball, Hisar and Jind secured the second and third places, respectively. In the women’s events, Jind bagged the second spot, with Hisar at the third place.
The event was graced by Rakesh Pandey, Deputy Director of the Sports Department, and officiating District Sports Officer, along with Joginder Kumar, Nodal Officer, Adventure Sports, Sports Department, and the incharge of ‘Khel Mahakumbh’, Renu Silag, District Youth Officer, and other coaches, who handed over awards to the champions and the runners-up.
In men’s fencing competition, Hisar emerged as the overall champion, while Rewari secured the second place and Karnal the third position. For the women’s fencing events, Rewari claimed the championship, Hisar secured the second spot and Panipat the third place, said Joginder Kumar.
Jhajjar dominated the water sports, emerging as the overall champion in both kayaking and canoeing. Sonepat and Karnal followed in kayaking, taking second and third places, respectively. In canoeing, Sonepat again secured the second position, while Gurugram secured the third place.
In tennis, Jind emerged victorious in the men’s category, followed by Sonepat and Rohtak in second and third places. Faridabad claimed the women’s tennis championship, with Sonepat and Sirsa securing second and third places.
