In a first reshuffle after the appointment of the new Director General of Police, the Head of Police Force (HoPF), the state government on Wednesday issued posting and transfer orders of two IPS and four Haryana Police Service (HPS) officers.
The 2015-batch IPS officer Narender Bijarniya, who was awaiting posting order, has been appointed as the new SP in Karnal. Bijarniya was removed as SP, Rohtak, after his name surfaced in the abetment to suicide case of IPS Y Puran Kumar.
IPS Y Puran Kumar had committed suicide on October 7. In his suicide note, he had mentioned several IAS and IPS officers, including then DGP Shatrujeet Kapur and Bijarniya. Kapur also had to proceed on leave.
IAS officer Amneet P Kumar, wife of deceased IPS Y Puran Kumar, had lodged an FIR with the Chandigarh Police, alleging that Kapur and Bijarnia drove her husband to suicide. She had claimed that on directions of Kapur, Bijarniya had got registered a false FIR against her husband’s staff member Sushil and were implicating her husband, “which pushed him for his final anguish”.
SP Karnal, Ganga Ram Punia, will now serve as SP, Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB).
Among HPS officers, Jeet Beniwal, Monika, and Anil Kumar will serve as DSP CID. Sushil Kumar will serve in 2nd Bn, Haryana Armed Police (HAP); Munish Sehgal will serve in 2nd Bn Indian Reserve Battalion (IRB), Bhondsi, and Shakir Hussain will serve in 4th Bn, IRB, Bhondsi.
