Sensing a strong anti-incumbency wave and resentment in south Haryana, especially Gurugram, the BJP has now switched it campaign pitch.

From offering explanations for failed projects crumbling infrastructure and promising better efforts in the third term, the BJP is now back to seeking votes in name of Modi government. BJP star campaigners and key leaders are now out asking people to trust Modi and the Central Government and give party a third chance in the forthcoming Assembly elections. Leaders are asking people to vote in name of expressways, AIIMS, improved international image of the country, etc.

After PM Modi’s rally, various central leaders and union ministers will now be campaigning in the state and try to win with the same pitch as the Lok Sabha. Union Minister for Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari, while addressing a rally in Gurugram, remained cautiously away from any concrete local issue and tried to woo voters citing union projects like Dwarka Expressway, Mumbai expressway, Katra Expressway etc.

“What we have achieved in 10 years is more than 65 years of Congress rule . We have completed all pending projects and given an unmatched network of expressways. If development is what you want then the BJP is what you need to choose. We promise that like in last 10 years we will support Haryana with all the projects it demands,” said Gadkari. Rao Inderjit Singh, who is leading the campaign strategy for the majority of seats in south Haryana, too has been asking people to trust him and PM Modi.

“ I understand that you may be upset with the local government but you have to trust me, you have to trust the Centre. We got many big projects here and we will resolve all your issues. We got service at your doorstep. If you choose the Congress you will have to go to Rohtak or to CM’s constituency to get your work done or even be heard. Your money will be diverted out of the city. The Modi government has ensured overall unbiased development of all the regions and you need to bring the BJP back for this,” said Rao in a public meeting in Sohna.
