BJP expels 8 rebel leaders in Sonepat for six years for contesting MC election against party candidates
District president Ashok Bhardwaj said the rebels had been spreading lies that they were fielded by the party and were misleading voters with such claims
Taking stringent action against rebels, the ruling BJP on Wednesday expelled eight party leaders for six years with immediate effect for contesting the Municipal Corporation election against the party’s official councillor candidates in their respective wards.
The orders were issued by Sonepat district president Ashok Bhardwaj. All eight were expelled for contesting election against BJP candidates in their wards and for indulging in anti-party activities.
The expelled leaders are Mukesh Batra, Ward 13; Kiran Bala, Ward 20; Tejender Pal Singh, Ward 12; Pawan Taneja, Ward 15; Jogender Prajapat, Ward 22; Puneet Rai, Ward 8; Deepak Chawla, Ward 13; and Brhamjeet Singh, Ward 20.
District president Ashok Bhardwaj said all eight were executive members of BJP’s district committee, and Mukesh Batra was also the convener of the Prime Minister’s ‘Mann Ki Baat’ programme.
“Such acts are contrary to BJP’s principles, policies, and organisational norms and are unacceptable under any circumstances. That is why all eight have been expelled from the party for six years,” Bhardwaj said.
He added the rebels had been spreading lies that they were fielded by the party and were misleading voters with such claims.
“The party has now made its stand clear by expelling them. We have fielded only official candidates and the party stands with them alone,” the district president said.
Bhardwaj claimed BJP will win the mayoral seat as well as all 22 councillor seats by a huge margin in the Sonepat MC election.
