BJP wave sweeps Haryana, Congress in decline: Khattar
Union Power Minister Manohar Lal Khattar launched a scathing attack on Congress, stating that the party’s dream of returning to power remains unfulfilled. Speaking at a ‘Holi Milan’ event in Karnal, Khattar highlighted Congress’s inability to elect a Leader of Opposition, calling it a reflection of internal disunity. “If they ask, I can help them elect one,” he said.
Khattar cited the recent civic polls to underscore BJP’s dominance in Haryana. Out of 368 posts, BJP won 261, while 102 Independent winners aligned with the party’s ideology. Congress managed only five councillor seats, signalling its decline. “Congress is in a miserable state. Since 2014, it has failed to connect with people,” he said.
The Union Minister credited BJP’s success to its inclusive vision of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas,’ contrasting it with Congress’s focus on ‘Me and My Family.’ He predicted more Congress leaders would join BJP, citing the party’s transparent governance and job recruitment policies. “We’ve ended the era of ‘parchi’ and ‘kharchi,’” he said.
Khattar also praised Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini and urged BJP workers to expand their reach. He celebrated Holi with Karnal residents, introducing newly elected Mayor Renu Bala Gupta and 15 councillors. “Six women councillors and a woman mayor reflect BJP’s commitment to women empowerment,” he said.
The event turned into a victory celebration, with supporters chanting slogans and showering flower petals, marking BJP’s stronghold in the region.
