BJP workers will keep tabs on the ongoing development works and Home Minister Anil Vij will crack the whip to ensure that there is no laxity.

This is the new initiative launched by Home Minister in his constituency Ambala Cantonment to ensure transparency in the development projects. He has warned the officials against lapses, delays and poor quality work.

Chairing a meeting of civic officials at his residence here today, the senior most minister in the Khattar Cabinet formed a team of party workers and assigned them duties to keep a check on the ongoing works pertaining to roads, streetlights and cleanliness in Ambala Cantonment and asked them to report to him directly if they found any wrongdoing anywhere.

He directed the MC executive officer, Vinod Nehra, to ensure quality control and meet deadlines in the civic works. He asked the civic authorities to immediately cover all open drains and complete the laying of storm water pipelines in the area.

Soon after issuing the instructions, the Home Minister conducted a surprise check of the ongoing work at War Heroes’ Memorial and international football stadium here. He directed the officials concerned to speed up the ongoing development works and ensure their completion before the deadlines.

“The main aim behind my surprise visits is to check any lapse or deficiency in the ongoing works,” Vij said while pulling up officials for delay in putting up chairs in the spectator stands. He also reviewed the work at the all-weather swimming pool here. While the memorial and stadium were coming up at a cost of Rs85 crore, the pool is estimated to cost Rs14 crore.
