BJP’s Renu Bala Gupta scores hat-trick, wins Karnal Mayor's seat again

BJP’s mayoral candidate Renu Bala Gupta made history by winning for the third consecutive term at the Karnal Municipal Corporation (KMC) elections. Congress tried to give the BJP a tough fight, but Wadhwa’s campaigning couldn’t overpower the BJP’s organisational strength and Gupta’s strong voter base. She defeated Congress candidate Manoj Wadhwa by 25,359 votes, securing 83,630 votes against Wadhwa’s 58,271 out of 1,47,210 total polled votes.

Her victory reaffirms the BJP’s stronghold in the Karnal Assembly segment, a politically significant segment, previously represented by former CM Manohar Lal Khattar and CM Nayab Singh Saini. Independent candidates Mukesh Raghuwanshi and Yash Goyal secured 2,327 and 1,461 votes, respectively, while NOTA received 1,521 votes. The BJP won 15 of 20 councillors’ seats, including two unopposed victories.

In Ward 1, BJP’s Sudesh Rani won by 3,037 votes as she was polled 5,349 votes, defeating Congress’ Sudesh, who got 2,312 votes. In Ward 2, BJP’s Baby Pal won by 1,906 votes, securing 3,736 votes against Independent Seema Devi’s 1,830. Independent Paramjeet Singh Lather won Ward 3 with 2,898 votes, securing 4,766 votes and defeating Krishan Kumar who got 1,868 votes and BJP’s Rajesh Kumar who secured 1,562 votes.

BJP’s Bhupinder Notana won Ward 4 by 320 votes, securing 2,290 votes against Rohtash Lather’s 1,970. Subahsh Kamboj won Ward 5 by 2,328 votes as he was polled 4,173 votes against Rameshwar 1,845. In Ward 6, Independent Ankit Titoria defeated BJP’s Rajni Parocha by 222 votes, securing 4,139 votes. BJP’s Joginder Sharma won Ward 7 by 1,262 votes, defeating Congress’ Renu. Sharma got 4,075 while Renu secured 2,813 votes. BJP’s Sankalp Bhandari won Ward 8 unopposed. Sujata Arora secured Ward 9 with a margin of 3,723 votes, securing 5,566 votes and defeating Congress’ Lalita Rani who got 1,843 votes.

Ward 10 saw a setback for the BJP, where Independent Aashya Kumar, daughter of former MC Vir Vikram Kumar, won by 320 votes as she was polled 3,314 votes against BJP’s Payal Arora’s 2,994 votes. BJP’s Sanjeev Mehta won Ward 11 unopposed. In Ward 12, Monik Garg won by 1,697 votes, securing 3,379 votes against Jaspal Singh Goldy who got 1,682 votes. Independent Ish Gulati won Ward 13 by 744 votes, defeating BJP’s Amit Ahuja. Ish got 3,698, while Ahuja secured 2,954.

BJP’s Amrit Lal Joshi won Ward 14 by 995 votes, securing 3,740 votes against Congress’ Rohit’s 2,745 votes. In Ward 15, Independent Priyanka Saini won by 1,208 votes, defeating BJP’s Kanchan Verma. Saini secured 4,544 and Kanchan got 3,336. BJP’s Rani won Ward 16 by 531 votes as she got 3,086 and her nearest rival Kavita secured 2,555 votes.

BJP’s Mamta Devi won Ward 17 by 2,281 votes. She secured 4,002 votes, while her nearest rival Kavita got 1,721 votes. In Ward 18, BJP’s Harjeet Singh won by 694 votes. He got 3,556 votes, while his nearest rival Harish Kumar secured 2,862 votes.

BJP’s Rajesh Aghi won Ward 19 with the highest margin of 4,775 votes. He got 6,331 while Congress’ Maninder Singh secured 1,556 votes. In Ward 20, BJP’s Ram Sudhir Yadav won by 188 votes as he got 2,335 while his nearest rival Tarun Chauhan secured 2,147 votes.

With this victory, Renu Bala Gupta has emerged as a strong leader in local governance. She expressed gratitude to the voters and the BJP leadership, vowing to continue development work in the city. “I thank Karnal residents and my party for their support. I promise to maintain the pace of development,” she said.

BJP Karnal MLA Jagmohan Anand also expressed gratitude to the people of Karnal for their support.

Congress candidate Wadhwa also thanked people of Karnal for their support.
