A 40-year-old man was fatally shot by a group of three unidentified assailants on National Highway-44 near Jhanjhari village on Thursday.

The victim was identified as Pintu alias Vikas, a resident of Dadupur Khurd. He was rushed to a private hospital where he died later.

The assailants abandoned their car near a drain and fled the crime scene in a scooter they took at gunpoint.

The victim's family refused to claim his body until the suspects were arrested and have also blocked National highway 44 near ITI Chowk in protest.

Pintu is the brother-in-law of former sarpanch and liquor contractor Suresh, alias Babli, a resident of Anjanthali village who was shot dead by unidentified assailants in the village few months ago, allegedly over an old enmity.
