Cabinet approves creation of Hansi as 23rd district
New district to cover Hansi, Narnaund Assembly segments
The Haryana Cabinet, at a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini here today, approved the creation of Hansi as a new district, making it the 23rd district of the state.
The State Reorganisation Committee, headed by Development and Panchayats Minister Krishan Lal Panwar, had approved and recommended the proposal in its meeting held on December 9. The recommendation was subsequently cleared by the Chief Minister.
The newly proposed Hansi district will comprise 110 villages falling under the Hansi and Narnaund Assembly constituencies, which are currently part of Hisar district. The district will have two subdivisions — Hansi and Narnaund — carved out of Hisar.
It will include three tehsils — Hansi, Narnaund and Bass — and one sub-tehsil, Kheri Jalab. The proposed district will also have three blocks — Hansi-1, Hansi-2 and Narnaund.
The total geographical area of the proposed district will be around 1,34,976 hectares, with an estimated population of about 5,40,994.
With the creation of Hansi district, the total number of districts in Haryana will increase from 22 to 23.
It may be recalled that the Deputy Commissioner, Hisar, had forwarded the proposal through the Commissioner, Hisar Division, to the State Government with the objective of improving access to citizen-centric services, enhancing administrative efficiency, strengthening inter-departmental coordination and ensuring effective delivery of government services in the Hansi region.
