Cabinet okays pension for acid attack victims

CHANDIGARH: The Haryana Government on Tuesday approved a monthly pension scheme for acid attack victims. A decision to this effect was taken during a Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar.

The Haryana Government on Tuesday approved a monthly pension scheme for acid attack victims. A decision to this effect was taken during a Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar.

Under the "Financial Assistance to Women and Girl Acid Attack Victims Scheme", any victim facing acid attack on or after May 2, 2011, would be eligible. Financial assistance would be given on the basis of percentage of disability.

The victim, her parents or her legal guardians could apply to the District Social Welfare Officer for relief. In case of a minor, the application would have to be on her behalf by a parent or guardian.

Bajra procurement

The Cabinet approved procurement of bajra on minimum support price of Rs 1,950 during the kharif marketing season 2018-19 under the Bhavantar Bharpayee Yojana.

It was decided to procure 1 lakh metric tonne of bajra for distribution under the targeted public distribution system, for which the Centre would do the entire reimbursement.

Registration fee hiked

The Cabinet approved a proposal of the Revenue and Disaster Management Department to revise registration fee for non-testamentary documents relating to immovable property.

The revised rates varied from Rs 15,000 to Rs 50,000. The rates for registration fee were previously revised on November 6, 2006.

Non-testamentary documents relating to immovable property comprised instrument of sale, gift, mortgage, sale certificates, rent or lease deed, collaboration agreement, deed of exchange of property, deed of settlement and deed of partition.

Sugarcane payments

The Cabinet approved financial assistance of Rs 92.50 crore as loan and subsidy to three private sugar mills in the state to pay cane arrears to farmers for the 2017-18 crushing season.

Jobs for martyrs' kin

The Cabinet approved government job to Sujita Kumari, daughter of Sepoy Satya Narayan, who was killed in Operation Meghdut on November 9, 1988.

She would be given job on compassionate grounds for Group C post by giving relaxation in the policy as an exceptional case.

The Cabinet also decided to provide government job in Group D to Jaivir Singh, brother of martyr Satbir Singh, on compassionate grounds by giving relaxation in the policy.

Award instituted

The Cabinet approved initiating Kalpana Chawla Haryana Solar Award and signing of a memorandum of understanding between International Solar Alliance and the state government.

Relief for power users

The Cabinet approved the Electricity (Haryana Amendment) Bill, 2018 for amendment in sub-section (2) under section 127 of the Electricity Act, 2003.

The amendment intended to amend section 127(2) to provide relief to consumers to file appeal against assessments done under section 126.

Now, instead of depositing half the assessed amount at the time of appeal, the consumer would have to deposit one-fifth of the assessed amount.

New canal rules

The Cabinet approved the Haryana Canal and Drainage (Amendment) Rules, 2018. The Haryana Canal and Drainage Rules, 1976, were enacted to fulfil the needs of management of water in an equitable manner.

Shrine management

The Cabinet approved the Haryana Mata Bhimeshwari Devi Mandir (Ashram) Beri Shrine Act, 2018, for management, administration and governance of Mata Bhimeshwari Devi Mandir (Ashram), Beri, and its endowments.

EDC accounts

The Cabinet amended the Haryana Development and Regulation of Urban Areas Rules, 1976, to enable maintenance of town-wise EDC accounts.

The amendment was made for an enabling provision regarding maintenance of a town-wise EDC account and utilisation of the amount collected towards external development works for the town alone.

Power scheme review

The Cabinet reviewed progress of implementation of the Ujjwal Discom Assurance Yojana scheme in the Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam and Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam.
