Campus notes: Seminar on women leadership
Kurukshetra: Kurukshetra University Vice-Chancellor Som Nath Sachdeva said woman power was the living symbol of dedication, service and wisdom. Women in leadership roles empowered communities and inspired change, he added. He was speaking at a multidisciplinary national seminar on “Women Leadership and Development” organised by Dayanand Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Kurukshetra, in collaboration with ICSSR North-Western Regional Centre, Panjab University. Sachdeva said history was replete with numerous evidence of the endless power of women and their courageous roles. Women, from housewives to Parliament leaders, had proved their significance, specialty and scholarship, he said. Kurukshetra University Institute of Teacher Training and Research Principal Anita Dua said women’s development did not only mean the economic development of women, but also the concept of holistic development and the equal participation of women in every field. College Principal Dr Upasana Ahuja, seminar coordinator Anju Chawla and 87 teachers and students from colleges of the state and various states were present at the event.
Students taught communication skills
Yamunanagar: Communication skills are paramount for job interviews. This was said by Dr Karuna, Officiating Principal of Maharaja Agrasen College, Jagadhri, while speaking at the valedictory ceremony of the seven-day workshop on verbal skills. Gourav Bareja, the convener of the placement cell, said we needed to work on the fundamentals of communication skills in order to for the next generation to be informed, bettering the economy of the country. “It is every parents’ dream to see their child settled and we as teachers have the responsibility on our shoulders and we feel blessed that we are the chosen ones to help the community,” he added. Assistant Professor (English) Rahul was the resource person for the workshop. Around 70 students of BCom, BA and BCA courses participated in the workshop.
Swachh Sarvekshan-24 event
Yamunanagar: Guru Nanak Girls College, Yamunanagar, in collaboration with the municipal corporation, organised a workshop on Swachh Sarvekshan-2024, and composting. The programme aimed to raise awareness among students about the importance of composting and waste management. College Management Committee general secretary Sardar Manoranjan Singh Sahni said, “We are proud to collaborate with the municipal corporation to promote cleanliness and environmental conservation.” AMC Dr Vijay Pal Yadav, as the chief guest at the event, emphasised the significance of cleanliness and environmental conservation. Awards were distributed for Best Out of Waste projects, with Niranjana Nagra and Mansi securing the first position.
