“We toiled for decades to make Gurugram a millennium city, but in nearly five years, the BJP transformed it into the most polluted city in the world,” alleged Congress nominee Captain Ajay Singh Yadav after filing his nomination papers today.

“Gurugram today struggles with polarisation, law and order issues, traffic mess and rampant corruption. Even the Aravallis have been sold. I promise to revive the lost glory of the city. “The residents of Gurugram have seen through the false promises made by the current regime. They will give a befitting reply on May 12,” said Captain Ajay Singh Yadav.

Yadav, a popular Ahir leader, is contesting for Lok Sabha for the first time. He is the Congress’ choice against incumbent MP and Ahir leader Rao Inderjit Singh.

Starting from 1989, Yadav has won the Rewari Vidhan Sabha seat six times for the Congress. He has held various posts in the state Cabinet and has been instrumental in making the Congress a formidable party in Ahirwal. Yadav’s winning streak was however interrupted during the Modi wave in 2014.

21 nominations filed

Chandigarh: In all, 13 candidates filed nomination papers on Thursday for seven Lok Sabha seats in the state. Joint Chief Electoral Officer Inder Jeet said: “So far, 18 candidates have filed 21 nomination papers from Ambala, Kurukshetra, Hisar, Mahendragarh-Bhiwani, Sonepat, Faridabad and Gurgaram seats.” TNS
